Welcome to the:

Pharma IP Protection in Asia (PIPPA)

The Asia Pacific region has now become an established target for Western pharmaceutical companies looking to develop and commercialize their products. This has led to a huge increase in cross regional partnerships between pharmaceutical and biotech companies as well as governments and academic institutions as western companies seek to drive down R&D costs. Whilst most Asian countries have amended their laws to comply with the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPs), they continue to introduce newer laws  and amend old versions.

This continues to cause concern regarding intellectual property rights in the region as well as potential legal risks involved for the pharmaceutical industry that needs to be continually assessed by internal and external legal teams, intellectual property and patent attorneys and their advisers.

The Pharma IP Protection in Asia Summit will address key issues relating to intellectual property regulations and legislation across Asia through a series of keynote presentations from leading legal experts, interactive panel and roundtable discussions.

Some of the vital topics under discussion will include -

•    IP Protection developments in Asia
•    Case Study – Steps a pharmaceutical company is taking to build IP protection in Asia
•    Drug Patent regulations in Asia
•    CRO Partnerships and Drug development: Legal issues
•    China case study: Working with the SFDA and implications of healthcare reform for intellectual property
•    Patents in Biologics in China – An update
•    Enforcement issues for IP protection
•    Case Study India: Latest patent law issues and how the Indian government is dealing with IP protection
•    Data Protection and Data exclusivity in Asia
•    Public and Private sector Collaboration and IP
•    Lifecycle management in Asia: Extending patents effectively and protecting patents to maximise profits
